Welcome to the Official GGVT Homepage!
This is the official webpage for the Gamers Group of Virginia Tech, also know as GGVT for short. If you are here, then you are probably interested in a number of things-- how to become a member, where to find some friends on campus to play video games with, when the next big tournament is, but either one thing is certain, that you are probably interested in video games. This site is your one stop shop for all the information you need to get involved with the organization on campus and should help you easily get in touch with members and officers so you can get playing right away, GG! Super Smash Bros Tournament on October 27th
It's time for a Battle Royale! GGVT is holding its first major tournament of the year with a special Smash Bros tournament. What makes this one so special? Well, we're going all out with all three Smash games on display! OG Super Smash Bros for you old-schoolies, Melee for the hardcore elite, and Brawl for everyone else. Take part in just one game or all three, take your pick!
The tournament will be held on October 27th in Torg 1040 starting at Noon. Come early to scope out the competition or get in some casual matches until showtime! Entry will be $5 per game with a cash pot as the prize for the winners. If you bring a full setup-- which includes a TV, console, game, and two controllers-- you will be given a discounted price on your entry fee. The matches will be your standard timed 1v1 stock match, so I wanna see clean fighting out there. Keep an eye on the site and the official Facebook page for the event for more information. See you guys there! !--> !--> !-->

Thanks For Coming to Gobblerfest + First Meeting!
Salutations, everybody! We saw a lot of awesome new faces out for Gobblerfest yesterday! Along with tons of returning members too! If you picked up one of our flier from our table (or one of the tables of the many friends of GGVT), it hopefully redirected you to this site. Awesome! There are still some updates being done around the site, so pardon our dust, but there's still plenty of information you can find here. And if you're a social networker, don't forget to check out our Facebook page using the link to the right. Jump right into the conversation with other members and stay up to date on all latest events and goings on with GGVT Speaking of, I will use this opportunity to discuss our first official meeting of the year. Everybody cheer! Yay! It will be held in Torg 1060 on September 16th from 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM. This first meeting will act as the first (official) opportunity for all the members to meet in person and even get started on playing some games together. We will also be discussing to rules and plans for the year so this is gonna be a pretty important meeting! If you have a screen and some fun multiplayer games to bring, please do! Our club is entirely community based, so if you guys don't bring any games, we can't play 'em. So be a sport and share with the club-- its a great way to make new gaming pals around campus. See you guys again soon! !--> !-->
Gobblerfest is September 7th, Look for GGVT
Gobblerfest is coming up soon, specifically September 7th. For those of you who don't know what Gobblerfest is, its a street fair held at the beginning of the Fall semester to help both new and old students to learn about and discover the student organizations around campus. But things are gonna be a little different this year in that it's going to be held on the Drillfield instead of behind Squires as its been in the recent past. But have no fear, you can still expect to see GGVT there, and we'll definitely have something fun planned! Perhaps a return of the popular trivia game from last year? And be sure to bring your friends who might not know about GGVT yet. We want 2012 to be the biggest and best year for GGVT, and it all starts with you, the members. See you in the fall! !--> |
